An article on CNET this morning says that Sony admitted that the PS3 doesn't run
some PS2 and older Playstation games, even though the company has been claiming
that the PS3 would be compatible with software designed for previous models. The
Sandkei Shimbun (a Japanese daily paper) says approximately 200 PS2 and PS
titles are incompatible. Sony plans to solve the problem by providing an online
utility users can download when they upgrade their PS3s. Here's the link to the

Sony sold 88K PS3s in Japan in the first two days it was available. The PS3 will
be released in North America on Friday, but won't be available in Europe until
March 2007 because of a production problem with Blu-ray.

A side note, when they arrive in the US Gametop which took about 8 pre-orders
per store won't beable to cover all of the pre-orders taken. So those who don't
get a PS3 on Friday from GameStop get a free used game or DVD valued at 19.99
