New beta release for IBConsole available (8.0.0.50)

New beta release for IBConsole available (8.0.0.50)
14 May 2007 13:37:28 -0700
Fixed some bugs in the threadcode of WISQL-window.
I hope that the reported errors like "Can't write to the canvas"
and "IBConsole hangs with repetitive errors" won't show up again.
I replaced the ReadOnly option for transactions in WISQL-window with an
Option dialog so users can select theyre own options for transactions
in WISQL-window.
If you check the "Set as default" checkbox they will be saved in
IBConsole.xml. The Default button will restore the transaction settings
original used by IBConsole.

Gelein, the new version is much better, but I still see the occasional
"canvas does not allow drawing' as well as font and column width issues.
This is on a Windows 2003 Server with dual CPU's.

I did a test and set the affinity for IBConsole to just a single CPU and the
issues went away, so I suspect there's still a problem with the threading.

The only thing I can suggest is that you make sure the DBGrid and datasource
are disabled while the query is running in the thread -- right now, it
appears to be updating the grid while the query is running.

Thanks,

Dan

Thanks for the suggestion Dan.
I will take a look at that. I could not reproduce the error anymore

Are you testing on a machine with more than one physical processor? A lot
of threading bugs don't manifest on a single CPU machine.

I seem to be able to reproduce consistently. I'm happy to test any interim
builds you create.

Dan,
I have a HP DL380 with 2 dualcore processors available for testing,
but that does not say much. I think that other people - including you -
are better testers, that is why I frequently make beta releases.
