It is not certified but it has always worked for me. IB is certified
for an operating system so if you are running an O/S that IB is
certified for on your VM IB should work.

Wayne is right on the mark here. However, it should be noted that QA
routinely tests with VM's.

It is almost certainly not "certified" for use on virtual machines, it
is
certified for particular OS versions. Whether they are run in virtual
machines should not matter.
InterBase does not know and should not need to care that it is running in a
virtual machine, as long it has access to port 3050 (or whatever you assign
if not this default) then it should be happy.
