Plugin in Internet Explorer

Plugin in Internet Explorer
Fri, 24 Nov 2006 02:30:01 -080
Hi,

I wonder if some of you know how to make Internet Explorer as standard
application to read those following files:
- word (.doc)
- Flash files
- Adobe Reader files
- HTML
- Video files

In other terms, we would like Internet Explorer to be the only way to access
company applications (for trainees in a training company).
For security reasons, word and other application must not have to be loaded,
to avoid access to the system or the network. Maybe plugin solution...?

Many thanks

Even if they were the standard way to open them there's no plug-in method to
make it so that only IE can be used to open them. What you're looking for is
PC access control and there are a number of ways to handle that but they all
depend on what you're using for your environment. We'd need to know what
operating systems you're using and what you're using for your handling of
user accounts and access already (such as smartcards, single-sign-on, no
authentication, roaming profiles via DC, AD configuration, etc etc...) and
from there we could probably point you in the right place to get the answers
you're looking for as the answers you want aren't to be found here.

Sorry for the delay in answering, this is a pretty much defunct newsgroup
with about a month and a few days before Microsoft boots it off the servers
forever and it was a holiday weekend here.
