Wed, 09 Apr 2008 21:47:52 -050 |
With no warning, I am not able to access my email, (yahoo.com) orParty
Poker or anything else using IE. It may or may not be relative but
this was the message I got when I tried to sign on to PartyyPoke, (I
am a regular, playing for play money) Follows is the message I got
Internet Explorer Script Error
An rerror has occured in the script on this page.
Line 43
Char 1
error Object expected
Code 0
URL http://earlyexperience.partyaccount.com/register/plp_promos.htm
Channel=VC&LANG_ID=en_USidentifier=Loringh&key=V++fx+
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
yes no
I removed IE6 and download IE7 and installed. when I try to activate
IE, (using the desktop IE icon) I get the start of the IE home page
but it seems to hang up. I have to use the Ctrl, Alt,Del routine to
get it to go away.. I cant activate my email, (yahoo).
I can use Firefox and then www.yahoo.com to access my Yahoo email but
IE jsut doesn't work correctly.
Need some help !!!!!

Windows version? Current IE version? How did you "remove" IE6?
What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party firewall
(if any)?

first, thanks for the reply
In answer to your questions
Windows version XP Home Ed
Current IE version 7.whatever
How did I remove IE6 As soon as you asked that question I know I
screwed up. I went to the control panel, did not see IE listed, so I
went to my hard drive (C) and deleted it.
At present I do not have an anti virus installed. I tried to download
an update to Norton 360 a couple of weeks ago and I could not get it
to finish. Tried to go back to plain Norton 360 and load the CD but it
wouldn"t work either. Went round and round the mulberry bush with
Norton "experts" on line chat and on phone (to the Philipines) to no
avail. still haven't solved that problem yet
The only firewall I have is windows firewall,(turned on)

[To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous

Ick.
1. Uninstall IE7 via Add/Remove Programs EXACTLY per the instructions here:
http://www.ie-vista.com/kbase2.html
[Only use the "%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe" techniqute if you
cannot
uninstall via Add/Remove Programs!]
2a. If you cannot uninstall IE7, see this KB article:
How to perform a repair installation of Windows XP if Internet Explorer 7 is
installed:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917964
2b. If you can successfully uninstall IE7, is IE6 fully functional?

Double ick. When did you install Norton 360? Is your subscription current?
Did you upgrade to Norton 360 from an earlier Norton application (e.g.,
Norton AntiVirus 2006), or was another Norton application ever installed on
the machine since you bought it? Was a McAfee application ever installed?
Everything above notwithstanding...

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
