Hi, I would like to know to set up my Jbuilder 2005 foundation with the lastest
jdk. The jdk that comes with the JBuilder 2005 Foundation is the: jdk1.4
The one I need to work with is the jdk1.5.0_07.
I already installed the jdk1.5.0_07 in the same directory as 1.4
c:\Borlland\JBuilder2005
I would like to know how to set up JBuilder to compile my programs with the new
jdk. I have attempt to so, but I have been unsuccessful. Thanks

You have to mentally separate running JBuilder '05 (runs on JDK 1.4)
and running your projects on a JDK of your choice. Those are
two distinctly different things. The first, you don't even touch
unless you search the "jbuilder.macintosh" newsgroup archives for
a posting which suggests how you might do it. The original
message was titled, "Repost from Java-Dev] Possible Solution
for JBuilder 2005 and J2SE5.0". I posted it 4/27/06 with permission
from the original author who posted it in the Java-Dev mailing list
which Apple maintains. You have to extrapolate from the article's
findings in order to apply it to Windows or Linux versions of
JBuilder 2005, and even then, there's no guarantee of success.
The second, you configure in the Project Properties > Path page
in the "JDK:" setting. Press the "..." button, and if
necessary
follow the help for creating a new JDK library definition (press
the "New" button first), available by pressing the Help button
in the "New JDK Wizard" dialog.
Realize that JDK 1.5 was released *after* JBuilder 2005 was
released. So although basic compiling should work, some of
the new features in JDK 1.5 won't be supported in the IDE.
Sort of like most cars won't run on E85 but will tolerate a
small percentage of ethanol ... something like that.
