No, it's not. Just because something is open source doesn't mean that a
port for all possible platforms exists. It means that if you want it to
run under BSD you are free to port it to BSD.

1- How do I unzip a .7zip file? Ark is not working for that extension.

It is ridiculous that an open source application like 7zip seems not to
exist in BSD packages.

2-And now that we are at it, I have a .rar file password protected, I
know this file works with Windows but it can not open it with Ark (I
know the password), any work around other than installing Windows, which
I do not have and certainly not buying it.

I don't personally use any of the BSD's, however are you certain that
there isn't a package in your distro that can handle it 7z?

I understand that RAR files have a dodgy patented algorithm for support
anything propriety under linux and the BSD's is limited or non-existent,
and largely shunned.

Maybe you could consider going with bz2 for your archives instead if
that's practical? You'd find support for that no matter which OS you're on.

All the best, I understand your frustration.

I have seen something but I believe it is command based only, not sure

Actually I have no problem with RAR in BSD, Ark opens them fine, even
split RAR files, it is only if they are password protected when problems
start

Thank you for advice, the thing is that I used to have Windows as my
main Desktop not so long ago, and back then I would save everything in
7zip because I knew it was open source and I had the wrong idea that it
would mean that 7zip it is well supported in all other OS

I have now got rid of all Windows stuff and I am not going back, problem
is that the decision I took of saving most stuff in 7zip was wrong, but
I found a work around I will unzip it with a Linux live CD and resave it

I dont know about 7z, but concerning protected rar, ark cannot handle them,
but the rar commandline can. If unprotected archives work you should
