| I give up trying to write iso file :( |

I give up.
I have wasted 6 disks trying to create a Linux disk.
I have 4 different popular Linux versions iso files.
A) I right click any of them and the option for Roxio to write it to disk
pops up.
I select start and it writes only 10% and then it stops and does nothing.
The computer is new and the drive works fine.
B) I tried to 'create a project' and selected to make a bootable disk.
It wrote the disk.
I restart. My bios is set to read the DVD drive D: first on startup.
I get a black screen and a blinking cursor and nothing else.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Yes.
EasyCD Creator (Roxio)
You can use EasyCD Creator to create a CD from an ISO file. You must
purchase this program from Roxio. When the program is installed, it is
automatically associated with the ISO file extension in Windows Explorer.
For more information about this program, visit the Roxio Web site at:
http://www.roxio.com
Steps to create a CD if you have installed EasyCD Creator:
1.. Download the ISO CD image to a folder on your computer.
2.. Insert a blank CD in your CD-RW drive.
3.. Start Windows Explorer.
4.. Locate the ISO file, right-click the file name, and then click Open to
start EasyCD.
5.. In the Write Method section of the CD Creation Setup dialog box, click
Disk at Once for optimum recording performance.
6.. Click OK to write the image to the CD.
Yes.
As i said......It writes 10% and stops.
The computer and drive are functioning perfect. absolutely no faults with
them.

I assume you never read the manual, for those who know how to use a search
engine there would have been this page:
http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm

Maybe the computer is ok, but your system seems to be faulty.

The ISO is already bootable, so you will only mess things up.

Go to the web page mentioned earlier, look up the section about your burning
software and follow the instruction and then reboot your machine.
Or order CDs online, take a look at www.distrowatch.com

Assuming you are doing it right:
1. Your operating system gets locked up.
2. The burnsafe is disabled and your hard drive isn't able to supply data fast
enough for the burner.
3. Your hard drive has bad blocks, so the file is broken when saved on your
hard drive.
4. You have a quad AMD CPU and the motherboard don't have the BIOS fix that
will avoid triggering the bug in the CPU.
5. Your download software don't have checksum support, so it accept corrupt
data be downloaded.
6. You have a virus that affects your operating system in a negative way.
7. You have a buggy version of the burner program installed.
I can say this ain't a Linux issue, I would suggest you contact the
manufacturer of your CD-burning software or try your luck at a microsoft news
group.
If none of the options suites you, then you have to order the CDs/DVD or go to
a friend who don't have the troubles you have on your computer.
Keep in mind a new system can have faults, just remember when Microsoft
released a version of Microsoft Windows with viruses and up to 10% of new
hardware can have faults.
