unmounting automounted devices

Hi,

This is a beginner question, but google gave me way too much of
noise on this, I couldn't get the info I wanted.

What is the right way to unmount a usb pen drive that has been
auto-mounted by udev/hald mechanisms..
I'm using OpenSuSE 10.3 and KDE Desktop
Right now I unmount the same by becoming root.
But can I do it without requiring superuser privileges.

How would a normal user, say a student using a University
server and having no root privileges whatsoever go about
un-mounting an auto-mounted usb pen drive.

Likewise, as a second part to the question, the pen drive is
a FAT file-system and doesn't allow user attribute for files.
When auto-mounted I have read-write access using the uri
system:/media/sdh1 on konqueror
however, directly accessing the mountpoint, /media/varghese,
doesn't allow read-write access for normal users.
Any way to fix that?

Thanks
