BM problem

BM problem
Wed, 12 Oct 2005 16:31:18 GMT
Have just installed eCS1.2 on a system with XP preloaded.
XP is on C: and eCS on H:, however, Bootmanager lists the
driveletter C: for both XP and eCS. XP boots fine from BM,
but eCS won't.
How to change BM to point to driveletter H: for eCS ?
Have tried reinstalling it, removed partitions and added
partitions, but BM stays the same no matter what I do.
Without BM eCS boots as if it was the only op-system on

So BM is only showing the first primary partition?

Not sure if this will help, but I hit something similar when installing
eCS to a SATA drive - BM could only see the first partition on the
drive, not the one that eCS was installed to.

I worked round the problem by installing Airboot. Another (possibly
better) alternative would be Vpart. Both are smart boot managers, both
live in the MBR of the drive and both offer the ability to boot almost
any partition. For my system with eCS 1.2, I had to install BM (or I
wouldn't have been able to select a logical partition), but have to use
Airboot to select the operating system when booting.

Both are available from Hobbes.

No, it does show both, first line with XP and the second eCS,
but both have been given driveletter C: by BM.
I actually had the same problem a couple of years ago, but I
cannot remember how it was solved. At least I did not use any

Do you have a copy of DFSee? If not, get one and check out the drive.

Yes I have used DFSee and it reports nothing wrong.
