Hi,
are hidden FAT16 partitions with type 0x84 are still supported on OS/2
or eCS? When I create a FAT16 patition using lvm it is 0x06 (unhidden)
or 0x16 (hidden).

You cout try to change the ID in the partition table.
04 is for FAT <32MiB (<64Ki sectors), for DOS before somewhat 3.3..
84 is often used for suspend to disk vartitions for, example
by SystemSoft notebook BIOSes.
