If they've installed the latest player, it will be going to the macromedia
site to get the XTRAS unless you've provided a manifest file.

We have a client who has installed the web player on a number of clients behind

their firewall. When they go to run the Authorware piece, it starts to load
from the web server and then they get an error saying that an X32 file does not

exist or access denied.

I've checked the web player install and all the X32 fiiles are installed in an

XTRAS folder in the user's profile folder, so why does Authorware try to
download them again? I've even copied the web player install to the 'All
Users' folder but it made no difference.

That error message doesn't sound familiar in connection with a download
problem. What is more typical is "missing or wrong length" or
"attempt to
violate security". What is the *exact* error message, complete with any
filenames, and when does it happen?
For more information on the web player and how it works see

Sorry, I was being vague with my error message. it is file missing or wrong
length error.

Basically, when the Authorware piece starts to load (with the web player
pre-installed), the client's firewall is blocking the first required X32 file
from downloading (although there doesn't, at this stage, appear to be an issue
with blocking the host (our) web server as it does make an attempt to download
the piece initially). However, they do not want to alter their firewall
settings to allow the X32 files through. Instead, they have asked if the X32
files can be pre-installed on the client machines (distributed remotely from
their server), so that Authorware doesn't try to download them.

I will look at the manifest file suggestion of Amy's, but if there is any
other information I should be aware of, it is much appreciated.
