I started using Dreamweaver for static sites and really found it great. In going
dynamic i deciided to go down the asp route. It was then i realised Dreamweaver
does not suppport asp.net2.0. so i started using Visual Web developer. I wanted
to finish a site i started in dreamweaver and have returned hoping to use
asp.net 1.1. but having returned to the site i built originally in asp the
following message appears:
Error: template security preferences do not allow remote access to files with
that extension
could this be to do with asp.net 2.0 not being backwards compatible (the
framework is on my computer) or permissions maybe?
anybody got any ideas?

I just did a very wide search and found hundreds of sites on the net bombing out
with that same error message.
Something that may interest you is that I do use Dreamweaver MX on a system that
has .NET 1.1, 2.0 and 3, plus Visual Studio 2005.
On that system I use Dreamweaver for ASP files and VS 2005 for .NET files.
I use both of them to publish files and have never seen that error message.
Hope that helps at least a bit...

yes it does help a lot. obviously it is ok to have the same systems on the net
and it shouldnt cause problems to each other. however maybe i should be just
doing asp files on Dreamweaver. by the way i didnt know there was a .net 3.0?
Still stuck on this strange message. doesnt come up on normal error page but on
a blank page:
Error: template security preferences do not allow remote access to files with
that extension
the page is not a template either.

You may also consider Microsoft Expression Web designer which has better HTML
designer compared to VS 2005 and yet provides better support for ASP.NET
controls than DW.

Thank you mikhail, i may give this a whirl through the free trial. in the mean
time i am still frustrated with not being able to use asp in dreamweaver. the
only other thing i cn think of is with VWD it has its own server and does not
use IIS. Whereas Dreamweaver would need to access it. would VWD have disabled
applications accessed it perhaps?
thanks again Nick
