Earlier versions of Fireworks required Windows users to have the
settings for the default display font set to "Small fonts" or you may
have some parts of the User Interface missing. The small fonts file in
Windows is named SMALLE.FON and it should show up in your Fonts folder
in the Control Panel. That may still be the case.

Well it's been 8 days and response. The same problem was posted last year and
there was no response then either. Does anyone have any idea what is causing
the Behaviors panel to "blank out" or have any ideas on how to
troubleshoot
this?
Thanks
Thomas
p.s. I contacted Adobe tech support about this before I posted this problem.
The techie assured me if I posted the problem in the forums it would be
answered in a few days :-)

Thank you Linda for your quick reply
You discussed Fireworks on a Windows PC. I run Fireworks at home on an Apple
desktop and an Apple laptop. Only the desktop (Apple G4) has had this issue for
about two weeks now (it was fine for several years), the laptop's Fireworks is
working well.
At school, I teach Fireworks on Windows PCs and am not having this issue there
on the PC's either.
Your comment about some internal Fireworks interface resource causing it
sounds logical. There is nothing named "SMALLE" or
"SMALLE.FON" on any of my
hard drives :-( I have not purposefully disabled any of my fonts lately.
As a test, I fired up Fireworks MX 2004 on the problem desktop and the
Behaviors panel was functioning normally in that version of the program.
So, I am going to try reinstalling Fireworks 8 in the hopes that some
missing/damaged resource is replaced with a new one that is working correctly.
Thank you for your valuable time and assistance.

Problem is Fixed!
I ran the installer and did a complete uninstall of Fireworks 8. Then I
installed Fireworks 8.
The Behaviors Panel is now functioning normally again.
Thank you Linda for your help.
