What do I need to do to incorporate my existing .swf

What do I need to do to incorporate my existing .swf

I have a semi blank flash file right now that will become a single page. Now I
would like to include a few existing .swf files into it.

I have imported them into the library. Do they need to be converted to
symbols? Do they need to be on different layers? Do I need to do anything with
the timeline of the main .fla page?

Or... am I way off base with all these questions & I need a completely
other
approach?

 Thanks

If you want to merge, you will need FLA source file. SWF won't import properly.
There are no buttons, labels, actions, sound, movie clips etc... Pretty useless
file unless you have graphics only, that's pretty much all you can recover...

If you want to incorporate existing SWF file then I suggest you go with
loadmovie action.
Flash allow playback of multiple SWF within one host file.
