Yesterday I purchased MapPoint 2006 and attempted to install it on a machine
running Vista Business. The installation completed, but when I attempted to
use MapPoint it reported that it could not locate the "core" data
files (or
that they were corrupt) and that various "classes" were not
registered.
Reinstalled. Same result.
Installed on an XP machine and everything was fine.

I am also in the same boat. I have Vista Ultimate and installed Mappoint 2006
and I get the following error message
"Your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly. To
correct these settings, run Setup again for this application from the
location where you originally installed it."
It seems that Mappoint is not supported in Windows Vista. Any ideas when
this will be supported?

Looks like this is the consensus:
right click properties,
click on compatibility and
check run as administrator

Oh! That is to say, find the executable and
then perform that series of actions.

I think the reason that I don't have this problem is that my UAC has been
turned off since the day I got this OS.
