Mappoint 2006 - Stops responding

Hello,

Initially I could not install MAPPOINT 2006 on XP with Windows Media
11.  I downloaded some install file that omits checking form media
player version.  Finally, I got it to install.

But now, I am unable to do some very basic things.  It launches ok.
But as soon as say put some address or city and click on "Find", it
always hangs and stops responding.  I can click on PTM file created by
Mappoint 2004.  It does calculate the directions.  I can even right-
mouse click on some location and add to Route.  But I just cannot do a
find.  Hope someone can help. Internet search did not find anything.

OS: Fully patched Windows XP SP2, Windows Media 11
Mappoint 2006 is MSDN version (fully licensed).

I did try this already.  XP SP2 already has the up to date MDAC, so it
won't let me install MDAC2.8.  This machine has fresh install of OS
and there is no much else installed other than DIVX codec and Google
Earth.  I wonder if Google Earth maybe causing this.  Mappoint 2004
