microsoft fax unable to use

I previously would fax from Windows XP -from the installed microsoft fax with 
NO problems.  I wnet to fax today and the moment it goes to send fax my 
computer shuts down and start up again, then shut, down , on off, etc until I 
quicly goint fax console and delete the fax.  What the heck is causing this?  

Anyone know how I can fix or what is cause?  I work from home and need to 
transmit faxes.
