| Setting up a new WSUS 3.0 Server |

Hi there,
I have WSUS 3.0 running on a Windows 2003 R2 Standard edition in an Active
Directory Domain environment. However I wish to run WSUS 3.0 on a dedicated
VM running under Windows Virtual Server on a different physical server that
hosts nothing but VMs. I have setup a VM so that it is running Windows 2003
R2 Standard edition for this purpose. What I'm having trouble with is finding
out the best method to copy or move the data on the current WSUS server to
the new WSUS server. Once done all the remains to do is point the new WSUS
server to pull updates from Microsoft and change Group Policy so that all the
clients in the domain get updates from this new WSUS server on the VM.

Install the new WSUS as a downstream from the old one.
Replicate/synchronize with the old WSUS. If its complete, go to Options
in the new one and run the Assistent for the WSUS again. Here you say,
contact Microsoft Servers directly. Don't forgot to change the
Servername in your GPO.
