Hi,
Im currently running a consolidated V3.5 architecture. Recently my users begin
to complain that they are unable to send emails from hotmail.com and some free
email client. I've checked and confirm that the email addresses that they are
trying to send to are valid. The sender will receive the notification below.
Error states
username@hotmail.com on 3/2/2008 12:20 PM
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent
to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the
correct address.
<sffe01.corp.myservername.com #5.1.1>
Any advice much appreciated.
Thank you,
Nadhir

Check message tracing log to see where your Exchange is trying to deliver this
e-mail. I suspect you Exchange organization is responsible for domain
hotmail.com (it is in recipient policies or in domain.dat for SMTP Event sink).
May be some of your customers added this (and other) domain as secondary?

Hi Dmitri,
Thank you for your help. Your suggestion was accurate and hotmail.com was found
in domains.dat file. I have removed both from MPS and in domains.dat. Rebooted
MPS Server and problem was resolved.
However, there's another issue now.
Right now, hotmail users are able to receive mails immediately when one of the
exchange accounts do a a reply-to. However, If a new email is sent from the
exchange account to a hotmail account, the email will not reached to the hotmail
account. There is not bounced messages as well.
Looking forward to your advice.

1. Chek "Junk mail" folder in hotmail mailbox
2. Check message tracing logs
3. check if target hotmail addreess exists as a secondary e-mail address in your
AD.
