| Speech recognitions stops working after a few words in XP |

I have been using SR with no problems, but recently have been getting this
error message after only a few words: SAPISVR 5 has encountered a problem and
must shut down. I've tried going back to a restore point when I was having
no problems, but the problem persists. Also, I used to be able to just plug
my microphone (ANC-700 w/USB 5G pod) in when my machine was powered up; now
SR will only work if I have the mic plugged in before powering up. Any help

i have this problem incessantly.
one support page suggests deleting your profile and doing a new one. it
doesn't work. it seems to work, then speech collapses again.
another page suggests getting the event viewer data, and then the the thread
runs cold. if microsoft is watching this, the description is:
"Faulting application sapisvr.exe, version 5.1.4111.0, faulting module
spsreng.dll, version 6.1.3027.0, fault address 0x000717c9."

Thomas and Daniel,
I have the same problem with Speech Recognition in Dictation Mode. It never
was a problem for me until about 1 month ago. Now I get the same message that
Thomas describes below. I've searched everywhere for more information for a
resolution. I have plenty of memory so that is not the issue. Any feedback
from Microsoft on this issue? As a last resort I may call them for a fee
based trouble shooting session and hopefully they can resolve it.
