| SAPI 5.3 SDK Download |
 |
Thu, 21 Feb 2008 05:25:01 -080 |
I did one small app several years ago using an older SDK but thought
I'd try the latest for a new app.
I can't find a download package for the SDK or redistributable
package.
Is there one available to mere mortals?
Also, are the any freeware or cheap developer licensed (no end user
licence required) voices available?
Microsoft Sam sounds a bit dated now days.
Google searches are coming up with so many hits for unrelated stuff
and msdn has lots of documentation but no download link I could find.

Hi Mike,
Regarding the SAPI SDK the answer from the speech @ microsoft blog
(http://blogs.msdn.com/speech/) is:
For SAPI 5.0 & 5.1, the SDK was a standalone download. It is now part of
the platform SDK. So, all you need to do is go to http://msdn.microsoft.com
and search for what you are looking for. For example, if you search for
"SAPI 5.3", the first result returned is the overview page for SAPI
5.3.
There is a discussion on what is new in SAPI 5.3, and then of course all the
API documentation and samples are there.
If you're interesting in the managed speech API, search for System.Speech on
MSDN or the web.

Thanks for the reply Steve. That looks like a good resource.

I guess the Vista SDK. I'm still working with the Server 2003 R2 PSDK.
Does SAPI 5.3 work on XP?

Oops. Should have read more of the blog before posting. 5.3 is Vista
only so I'll need to use 5.1.
