I do freelance PC repair work in my free time and would like to set up a network
that will share the Internet conection between my home computers and the ones I
am working on, but keep the two groups of computers completely seprate for
maximum security. Is there a way of setting up my network to keep my home
computers safe?

Take a look at hamachi
hamachi.cc is the web site
A VPN that seems to be pretty secure. I use ultra vnc and hamachi to do a lot
of work on my
clients network servers.
there are lots of Highly regarded people that think it is pretty good.

Excuse me, For some reason, probably my advanced age, I thought you were talking
about
from your customers site.
Setting up a local network is pretty easy. Just don't allow guest on any of
your computers
and make sure the workgroup is not a common one.
sorry..

I suppose I could change my Workgroup. I use Concurrent Remote Desktop
conections if this is what you mean by guest?
http://sig9.com/articles/concurrent-remote-desktop Is security really that
simple though? It is only protecting against malware and malware can only be so
smart... But I was thinking some sort of hardware setup. In the meantime I will
be changing my Workgroup. Thanks :)
Also, I love Hamachi! I set clients up with it all the time :)

I suppose you could probably do it via MAC filtering, but not many SOHO router's
would allow you to make an advanced enough ACL (usually it's either access or no
access, not access to specific networks)
