No, it doesnt occur with Mozilla Suite, nor SeaMonkey, nor Thunderbird.
(nor Netscape 6 or 7)
The 'design' of the product does not lend itself for functionality in

I'm sure, back in the NC 4.7x days, if one of the threads in one of my
Public Newsgroups had been cross-posted to several/many groups, if I
then visited any of the other groups, that message would have been
marked as read.
This does not happen now with SM and I don't think it happened with
Mozilla Suite. Why not? Is there something that I need to do to enable
it, or was it something the Netscape did in their product?

Not to be too much of a smart arse, why not use KNode (which IIRC does
include optional support for this feature) since you already appear to work
under Linux already.
