Can someone point me to a brief tour of how Windows 2003 Server starts up?
I have just started playing with this system on a remote host and there
are Server concepts that I am missing. I only have previous relevant
experience with Win2k and XP.
I find that after reboot some programs only appear to start upon a Remote
Desktop login (programs such as FolderShare and a time server/client with
a links \Docs and Settings\user\start menu\programs\startup folder)
although they do continue to run after the very first post-boot login and
after any subsequent Remote Desktop disconnections.
This behaviour will cause me problems if the system ever reboots without
my knowledge or when I am unavailable to perform the Remote Desktop login
which appears necessary to start up such programs.
Can anyone explain this behaviour and maybe suggest some ways to have such
programs start immediately upon reboot and without any need to log in?
