Feedback about Lightning 0.8

Why does Lightning keep changing the core features back and forth?

In 0.7 we had both events and due task conveniently in the same view.
Now this important functionality is completely missing in 0.8!!! No
way to easily check all my events and due tasks for the day. Not even
an option to revert to the way 0.7 handled this.

This change has made Lightning very unusable for me, as there's now no
way to conveniently check current events and tasks; instead I have
switch to Tasks view, which shows all the hundreds of tasks that I
have and offers no way to filter out the non-important stuff (tasks
that don't have a due date).

So, Lightning is no longer usable as a GTD tool, either.

User feedback. A lot of users requested amore fine-grained control over
their task portfolio, which Lightning now offers.

That's not entirely true. You can use the today pane in mail mode to get
an overview over your current tasks and events.

0.8 hasn't removed any task related features. The new Task Mode was
just added.

Please clarify: Are you referring to the task list in the Today Pane
in Mail Mode? See

Or are you referring to viewing tasks in the main view in Calendar
Mode? Have you enabled the corresponding option 'Show tasks in view'?

In Task Mode there is a filter menu in the left sidebar. In addition 
you can sort tasks e.g. by Due Date to easily check what tasks don't
