| Tasks vs Events |

I don't really have a handle on the differences between Tasks and Events
that have informed development.
Does anyone have a link to a clear explanation of anticipated usage so
that I can relate the concepts to the way I use Lightning. I've just
started to use 0.8RC2 and the distinctions seem more apparent than in 0.7
so I'd like to know exactly how they are perceived and are likely to
develop.
I have previously tended to think in terms of a task that runs over a
lengthy period of time and during which a number of events (?) are
anticipated (some, perhaps, being more like a sub-task). This does not fit
well with my clumsy usage of Lightning so any clues would be appreciated.

You can find a not so easy reading with the RFC [*] which is the base
for calendar apps these days ... as Lightning or others (ReminderFox
extension for FX, TB, SM etc)

A task is to clean your toilet with alcohol, go to a hospital and get a
blood test, walk to a market and get some food, rake leaves outside or
similar chores. An event is a Wedding, a Funeral, a track meet, a 2 hour
daily walk, a wrestling match at a sports arena, visit a Doctor to hear
your blood test results, or go to sleep. A task can last just a short
time, and an event can last a short time. A task is work, an event
isn't work. They are different. A worker performs tasks, a politician

You should work out what works best for you.
A lot of people use tasks and events in a whole different manner. Some go
so far to use only events or only tasks but not the other.
In the end, what I or others think does not matter. If you develop a
system that works for you, then go for it.

Oooh, thanks! I'll need time to plough through that but a skim tells me
that nesting of, say, to-do components is a no-no and suggests that
related-to properties and the VJOURNAL component would be appealing to
me. I'll try to absorb what it actually means at a more sensible pace.
