I have not been able to find any add-on for Thunderbird that allows you
to format the email your composing, like M$ werd. I did go to the add-on
section and look through them. If anyone could point this Thunderbird
newbie in the right direction.
Thanks in advance!

Open Office Writer send works fine; brings up TB with the document
attached. Perhaps you want it in-line?

If MS Word would allow for the default mail program to execute the
e-mail transaction, there would be no problem with that. Is that
possible, you think?
Alternatively, you could compose a message in HTML mode (in Thunderbird)
or start from a message template stored in the Templates folder, if you
like.

I can understand why MS Word doesn't work, but why doesn't Open
Office Writer work? This one of the few things that I miss about Outlook.
Seeing as this is a Mozilla forum I will blame Open Office. I suppose you
could compose the email in Writer or Word then cut and paste it into
Thunderbird which is a bit of a hassle.

Yes I do, I don't always want to send an attachment for a short email,
and the process is fairly slow on my old computer, then I would probably
have to save it as a word document as the recipient probably will not have
Open Office.
