Tb does not support plugins in it's release versions. If your reading
with the View Attachments Inline setting you should try turning that off
for this mail. You may have to play with the other View settings like
Original HTML being switched to Plain/Text. The goal is to get the
attachments to show in the attachment bar at the bottom of the message
pane. That will permit you to dispatch the attachments to Acrobat as a
helper application or save to disk.

As you guesses it could be the sender has not properly attached the
documents. A way to check is to use the View Message Source window to
examine the content type header of each of the attachments. Will call
for a bit of scrolling the content, but this can shed some light on the
problem.

I received an email today which purported to have some pdf files attached.
There certainly were three named pdf icons in the body of the text, but the
only thing I could do with them was show the icon. Since they came from a
university which must send lots of emails I am loath to make a tit of
myself by questioning their ability.
Before I do, is there likely to be a problem at my end?
I am a long time user of Tb with the latest vesion on WinXP sp2.
I have Acrobat 8.1.2 which is my default pdf reader.

I have tried all the options I can find. The only time I can get the
attachments to appear in the attachment bar at the bottom is if I go to
Plain Text. They then appear as gifs with no filenames.
I sent myself a pdf file which gave me no trouble so I guess the tit is not
at this end :o?

On 14.04.2008 21:12, CET - what odd quirk of fate caused Jim S to
generate the following:? :

first thing to check is the application helper that is set in TB, to
open PDF files... you'll have to look for it in your version, but it may
be under tools>>options>>attachments and there, the "Download
Actions"
pane. Click the [View and Edit Actions] button, see what is in the list
for PDF.
You can delete the action listed (if there is one) - cos it don't work
anyhows!
close the window

NOW - open the mail in question
RIGHT CLICK on one of the attachment names
select "Open"
browse to your PDF reader (probably Adobe Acrobat Reader - find it)

that should set the reader in the application list.
