Many
Most SMTP servers are setup to restrict use to subscribers only. In
Account Settings select the Outgoing Server option. In the right panel
select the SMTP server. One of the items is your user ID, if that is
not filled in do so. This authenticates you to the server.

Had to have laptop rebuilt and consequently reinstalled Thunderbird.
Unfortunately I can not send mail only receive it and have to use
Outlook express 6 to send all my mail now. I am being asked for a
password for smtp.blueyonder.co.uk on smtp.blueyonder.co.uk (but there
is no password for the smtp server - but incase it was requiring the
pop3 password I have tried entering that but it is not accepted). Error
message states " Sending of message failed.......server may be
unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections......" All server settings
are the same as Outlook Express.
