| "Orphaned" Entries in RSS & Blogs feeditems.rdf |

I am not sure I understand the purpose of the feeditems.rdf file in my
RSS & Blogs account. But I note that even after I have removed a feed
from this account, I still find MANY entries in this file that refer to
the feed that has been removed.
I remove a feed using a 2-step process:
(a) Using the Subscribe dialog, I locate and open (press the +) of the
feed's "folder". I then select the single item inside (which seems to
be
the feed itself) and press the Remove button. As near as I can tell,
this does nothing - the folder and the "feed" remain as-is in this
dialog.
(b) Then I use the folder pane to delete the feed's "folder" there. It
goes into the trash folder and I can empty it from the trash.
After this, I check on disk as see that the .msf and data file for the
feed are indeed gone. I look inside the feeds.rdf file and find no
references to the deleted feed. However, there are plenty of them left
in the feeditems.rdf file and this seems strange to me.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to "clean" the
feeditems.rdf
file?

The two-step approach is fine. I can confirm that feeditems.rdf contains
items of feeds that were removed this way.
That's a bug, I think. Have to search bugzilla.mozilla.org for it.
To get it right, you probably need to delete the items from the list,
before removing the subscription.
