Is it possible to run MySQL5 (5.0.27) smootly on a Netware6 Sp5 server?

There will only be sql port access involved and NO other extensions like 
php or perl.

yes, but you should in any case install NWLIB6c:
http://www.gknw.net/nwdevnet/
