| Problems with upgrading from NOF8 to NOF10 and Vista |
 |
29 Mar 2008 16:42:54 -0600 |
I recently upgraded from NOF8 (XP) to NOF10 (Vista). Everything is okay except
that I am getting the following error messages when I Local Publish:
Can't copy file: C:\Program Files\NetObjects\NetObjects Fusion 10.0\User
Sites\BIS030608\Styles\Intoit - Blue & Green\Images\Intoit\Blue &
Green\Images\bullet.gif
The system cannot find the path specified.
Can't copy file: C:\Program Files\NetObjects\NetObjects Fusion 10.0\NetObjects
System\rollover.js
Access is denied.
I can't find the problem with the first- the bullet.gif is there in the assets
and, strangely, I'm not using this site style bullet- I only use the regular
boring bullets. The assets show Yes it's being used and 0kb for size.
The second error has me completely baffled. I am wondering if this is the
reason why my navigation bar buttons suddenly will not "drop down".
The buttons
drop down on Preview Page but not on Local Publish.
I am desperate for some advice on how to fix these problems as they will soon
begin to effect our business if I cannot update the site soon.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Eureka! I found the fix for my second error message. I could still use some
help with the bullet.gif error.

10.0\NetObjects
>System\rollover.js
>Access is denied.
To fix the rollover.js which affects the navigation bar drop down- On NOF10
properties tick on Run As Administrator.

Update to post:
I tried running NOF10 (Vista) as administrator. It eliminated the rollover.js
(drop down menu back) problem but caused a new problem- the entire site
reverted back to the template form and I lost all work I had done since
migrating to NOF10 and Vista. This also caused a problem with site backups- the
site style and graphics were all stripped away. I then unticked Run As
Administrator, restarted and tried running NOF10 in compatibility mode for
WinXP- that caused a serious runtime error and NOF wouldn't even open.
I'm back to square one. Any suggestions?

After many hours of playing around with this I found an answer. Hopefully, this
will help someone else who encounters the same problem.
Using Windows Explorer navigate to Program Files, right click on NOF10, select
Properties, Security- edit permissions for yourself and any user you like to
allow all, click Apply. Done. Worked like a charm for me.
