| Secure Component - was working, but now can't update |

The saga continues, I have labored for months back and forth with this
unworkable component. I originally had it all working ok in NOF9 after
weeks of anguish and troubleshooting.
Then I upgraded to NOF10 and now whatever I try I cannot go to my site and
login as Admin and Edit the table of users. I have about 25 users defined
to the system in one Section and about 12 in another Secure section. Each
of these were working fine.
Now when I login to my site pages as the defined Admin- I can View the
defined users and I can page back and forth and View an individual user just
fine. BUT - When I try to ADD (a new user) or SAVE (changes to an existing
user) it hangs for about 3 minutes before finally I get this error message -
"CGI TIMEOUT. The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for
processing. The server has deleted the process."
Why is this happening?? It all worked fine previously.
As a workaround I have had to manually edit the CSV files and FTP them back
but this is not my idea of a good solution.
I have double and triple checked that the CSV files have CHMOD set to 777
which allows read/write/execute. (I have tried to change it to 666 for
read/write only and that gets disallowed each time I try with SmartFTP.
I can Delete a defined user and that works.
I have tried going back to NOF9 and republishing everything but the same CGI
Timeout error occurs.
Anyone else getting this message and have a solution?
Frustrated again.......
