Hello to you all,
I sincerely hope one of you guys out there can succeed where Net Objects
Techies failed , failed and failed yet again.
I am not the neurotic type but trying to deal with these guys took the
biscuit......I am not doubting that the product if supported properly and if
the user documentation was written properly then this would be a good
product.
Now in my defence I am a complete novice...thats why I bought this product
thinking it will save me time.....:) Right....here is my probem...its to do
with the Formas handler Component and Im sure there has been much written
about this very subject.
I have placed the form just as it is and I wanted to test it to see if it
works and kept getting error 701 which I now know has to do with the path of
the csv file.
Ok I made a directory on the web server called file with a sub directory
called Upload and made aure the attributes all set to Read, Write and
execute. Write to database is checked....Database box populated with
../file/customer.csv and upload box populated with ../file/upload/
So now I am assuming the following. The csv file is automatically written
and sent to the webserver held within the directory called <File> and any
document uploaded will be sent to the subdirectory of File <upload.. Ok the
problem is I keep getting the error 701.
So if I uncheck the Write to Database and clear the filed database and
upload I can get at least the data from the form sent to the email address
requested.
Part 2 of the problem....is in the emailing the content of the form...in the
email box I have entered the email address I want the Form Contents emailed
to:
so in this case its computaman@cytanet.com.cy in the from box i had
wanted to leave this blank and hoped it would default to the customers email
address allowing me to see who the email came from...now this may sound
complicated....well it did to the Netobject Techies....what i mean by this
is Joe Bloggs goes to my website and fills in the form and clicks
submit....i had hoped leaving the from box blank would auto generate joe
bloggs email address so in my mailbox i see the email has come from
joebloaggs@aol.com complete with any upload attached ...so this is not
possible...so im told so I just put something like
enquiryfromwebsite.com......so at least i see there is an enquiry from the
website and not spam.
Part 3 of the problem is the comments box.....the filed length defaults to
30 character......so if i type in the comments box "The Lazy Fat Dog"
on
"The Lazy Fat Do" arrives....so what I mean is it always chops off the
last
letter......and not because the field length is too short is it....well
thats what NetObject Techies keep telling me.
So I am being driven Nuts but what should be a NO BRAINER it should be a
simple process.....it should not involve scores of emails to NetObject
Techies who are obviously under pressure and cant handle the volume of
queries. So now the NetObject Techies cant be bothered nor have the time to
read emails....try to understand the problem by invoking some kind of
thought process but instead cut and paste meaningless scripts into their
answers....bizarre.
So if some kind person can help me crack this and to restore some sanity to
my poor head then i will be most grateful.
Kindest Regards
Clive
