CLP Practicum/Future of Certs

Don't know if this is the most appropriate forum to ask, but I will
anyway.

Has anyone completed the practicum for CLP? If so, how was the
difficulty level? I've had instructors tell me it's VERY VERY hard. ?

Does anyone know Novell's plans for certifications? Will we see a
blending of CNE and CLP/CLE at some point?

Like all certifications is you know what is being tested on it is easy.
If you don't it is difficult. The advantage of practical testing is that
you have man pages and command line help available to you. Easy and
difficult is subjective. I have never failed a practical exam yet, touch
wood.

As to any merger of CNE and CLP/CLE who knows, I would expect so but
that is for Novell to decide and announce.

AS Andrew says difficult is in the eyes of the beholder. No it is not
a cake walk either unless you have 4+ years of linux experience it will
be easier for you.

As far as the merging of certs, I expect the certifications to follow
the product offerings. when NetWare goes virtual, I expect the cert
tests to mirror this change. Similar to when NetWare moved from
Novonyx to Apache and iManager. it was seen in the cert tests.

I think that the CNE and CNA exams will eventually fade away when
NetWare goes virtual. Novell is already retiring certain courses but
state that the CNE certification is not retired .... ... (yet)

Any practical exam could be considered hard especially if you don't have
a whole lot of practical experience with the product. The best way you
can study for a practical exam is to work with the product and/or
practice all the exercises/scenarios until it becomes 2nd nature.

Is the CLP exam hard? As mentioned by Timothy already, it all depends. I
failed it the first time I tried but scored high the second time I
tried, the exam made me realize how much I had to practice the
scenarios. Once I did that and became familiar with SLES the exam was a
breeze.
