I am trying to get the ODBC driver installed on Windows Server 2003

I am trying to get the ODBC driver installed on Windows Server 2003 Standard
Edition. The readme for the driver states the following under the Installation
section:

Note that the driver requires Novell® NetWare® Client 32 or NetWare Client for
NT.

I installed the Microsoft version. Now when I highlight Default NDS Database
and click Configure from the Data Source Administrator I get the following
error:

The setup routines for the Novell ODBC Driver For NDS ODBC driver could not be
loaded due to system error code 126. <OK>
Could not load the setup or translator library. <OK>

Am I doing something wrong or is this a case of wishful documentation?

Hi

I'm confused when you write "I installed the Microsoft version". Can
you explain? This error is seen when you have not installed the Novell client
for Netware. See

If you did install the Novell client, please let me know if you got any errors
etc.

Thank you
Susan

Oh, sorry. I didn't think anyone was using this newsgroup anymore. Glad to
hear otherwise.

The documentation states: "the driver requires Novell® NetWare® Client 32
or NetWare Client for NT". By "NetWare Client for NT" I thought
they were
referring to the Microsoft client for NetWare. Is that not the case?

Hi

The distinction is that there's actually a different version of the Novell
client for xp/2000/2003 versus the Novell client for the NT product. Both,
however, are Novell clients.

The Microsoft client has only limited support for NCP and NDS, and it's not
sufficient for services that the odbcnds driver needs. So you need to
install the Novell client either with or without the Microsoft client.

I hope this helps, I'll try to keep an eye on the forum for followup. But
if we're ignoring you, feel free to cc your request to devsup@novell.com as
well.

Thanks
Susan
