Update groupwise external email addresses

Has anyone tried this?  (or have a better idea?)

Have Groupwise 6.5 with 2k groupwise accounts.
Still have another 2k employees/contractors that have non-groupwise
accounts.

In an oracle table, we have 'everyone' with data such as name, email
address, phone#, and physical location.  (the users maintain their info on
iis intranet syncronizing with Lawson ERP and other systems)

Problems:
. Groupwise address book is badly maintained regarding misc info such as
phone# and location.
. Groupwise address book does not have any non-groupwise users in it.

Would like to get this 'fixed'.

The thought was to use the OBDC Driver for eDirectory.  Write some
vbscript (iis) to read from oracle, and insert/update the data to eDir. 
Then either eDir would synchronize to Groupwise directory, or data
accessible via LDAP from Groupwise client.

If that idea (or better one) can fly, then, we have a way to maintain and
improve on the groupwise address book usefullness.
Goal: We can automagicaly sync contact info (such as phone#) from oracle
table to Groupwise address book.
Goal: We can automagically sync non-groupwise email address to the
groupwise address book.

Well, thats the 'idea' in a nutshell.

Not all of groupwise information is stored in eDirectory.  I'd suggest that 
you post your idea to the groupwise forum with specific fields to make sure 
that it's a valid plan.  It might be preferable to use one of the groupwise 
sdks if eDir doesn't contain all the info you need.  Also updating outside 
of the standard interfaces may pose an unknown problem, if the tools don't 
have that expectation or if the data in eDirectory is proprietary format.

Well, by now, we kinda abandoned the whole idea.

But, when time permits, I will ask over in Groupwise.

Hmm, hunting for Groupwise, comes up with:   0 projects in result set. 

Use this instead of ODBC, cuz as Susan says.....
