| NLSBS- ease of use.... |

Hi
I am a Linux Newbie and I am having an interesting time trying to deploy
NLSBS.... I don't think it is easy......
I am reading about the forthcoming release of Suse Linux 10, Linux for the
desktop.
One quote especially made me think:
'The new features and numerous usability improvements in SUSE Linux 10.0
will make it easier than ever for users to deploy and use Linux
successfully,' said David Patrick, Novell's VP of open source platforms
and services.
Is there any chance this paradigm could be applied to NLSBS development?
Rgds.

I think you may see this in the next iteration of NLSBS -- as it
incorporates the functionality of OES and NCP support -- this should
make it quite a bit easier to integrate with existing Windows
workstations (which to me is very important).

Hi Barry,
I totally agree...the WIN is to get M$oft users to buy.....
Linux enthusiasts, anti-M$oft evangelists will come onboard if they so
wish....
.... to get computer users who only know Windows to become interested and
not be totally befuddled by the complexities of LDAP, Samba, eDirectory
and whatever else is required to get the existing NLSBS working fully...
that's the challenge!!
I do hope Novell developers have got their "Window's user" hats on
.....

Understood -- the thing is, the next version of NLSBS needs to also be
'migration friendly' -- that is, I have folks running SBS 4.2 through
SBS 6.5 -- ideally, I'd be able to *migrate* the servers over to NLSBS
2.0 (or whatever) and be largely transparent to the Windows
workstations (running Win2K and XP) that I currently have.

how will that happen when the whole of Novell runs Linux?
