postinstalled libraries are not found
Wed, 05 Oct 2005 09:28:30 GMT
Hi people,

i installed my system with suse prof. 9.3 and minimal paketselection. then
i installed vmware gsx 3.2 and unfortunately it telled me it requires
libx11.so.6 and some other shared libraries.
~ # /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware
/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware: error while loading shared libraries:
libX11.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

 so i started yast and postinstalled the needed libs, but vmware doesn't
find them.

~ # ldd /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware
        linux-gate.so.1 =>  (0xffffe000)
        libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x55577000)
        libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/libm.so.6 (0x5557b000)
        libX11.so.6 => not found
        libXext.so.6 => not found
        libXi.so.6 => not found
        libgdk_pixbuf.so.2 => not found
        libglib-1.2.so.0 => /opt/gnome/lib/libglib-1.2.so.0 (0x5559f000)
        libgmodule-1.2.so.0 => /opt/gnome/lib/libgmodule-1.2.so.0
(0x555c4000)
        libgdk-1.2.so.0 => not found
        libgtk-1.2.so.0 => not found
        libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0x555c8000)
        libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0x555d9000)
        /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x55555000)
~ # ldconfig -p | grep libX11
        libX11.so.6 (libc6,x86-64) => /usr/X11R6/lib64/libX11.so.6

i reinstalled vmware, but no success. i deleted /etc/ld.so.cache and
created a new one with ldconfig, but no success.
i had this problem some time ago. the solution was to install suse again
with standard pakage selection. but this can't be the way. maybe one of you
out there know, which package is required for runtime-linking?

thanks in advance
