| Upgrade w/o uninstalling?? |
 |
Mon, 28 Apr 2008 15:56:01 GMT |
It's kind of bothersome to have to do an uninstall before installing the
next version of Oo. Is there any way to do just a simple upgrade over
the existing version?
Or is there any way do to an install and keep the previous version for
those who want to keep both for a while?
Thanks,
Val

Ok so after doing some research it looks like you can't actually upgrade
an existing version as normal, but you can rename the current directory
before installing the new version, and then run them concurrently. Not
exactly what I was looking for. Anyone know how come you can't just do
a normal upgrade? I'm tired of re-doing all the preference settings
every time I put on a new version.
TIA

Ok....real active forum, I see......;-)
How do you bring over the preferences from one version to the next at
least? Is there a way to do that?

Not sure what you are talking about. I simply use the openoffice repo and
smart package manager simply downloads the latest RPMS.
As for the settings, my home directory has a .ooo-2.0 subdirectory. My
settings are in there and used for each new version of OpenOffice.

This is a windows install, and the settings do not seem to transfer from
one to the next. The installer makes you uninstall the previous version
every time, unfortunately.
