Registration of 2.0.4?

Registration of 2.0.4?
Thu, 31 May 2007 12:02:08 -040
When I tried to register OO-2.0.4, it complains that it cannot start the
web browser. And, it says to:
	"Please check the OpenOffice.org and Web Browser settings."

Sorry, but I've looked all over the various "Options" [Can't find
anything that says "Settings" except for the current document.] There

is no place that I can find where any 'browser' [or similar] can be
specified. There is a check box for 'Enable Plugin' which is checked,
but it does not seem to matter.

I've tried the Help and it isn't helpful for this...

EXACTLY WHERE does someone find this elusive setting to allow
registration.

Well, I went to that file, did FINDs on:
	"Regist" [looking for something about registration]
	====>  Not found
and	"Web Browse" [Looking for something about that]
	====> Not found
and	"settings"
	====> Four instances, but the closest has to do with:
	      "E-mail related settings are not supported."
Just above this last one is a comment that:
	      "Mozilla not supported."
but I am not using "Mozilla". I am using SeaMonkey. AND, if this is

intended to imply that NO BROWSER is supported, then:
	WHY is the package trying to USE a browser?
Instead of telling me to check SETTINGS, it should say, "Internet access
IS NOT SUPPORTED..." and then TELL ME HOW TO REGISTER.

BTW, the reason I tried to register is because the INSTALL PROCESS
attempted to perform the registration.

So, did I read it? Yes. Was it CLEAR that I was wasting my time. Not
at all. Instead of a cryptic comment, a response that would say:
	"Here's how to register..."
or
	"You cannot register this product, ignore..."
would have been much more in order. [And, much more appreciated!]

Doesn't OO2 have an inbuilt browser capability? Could be those settings
that it refers to.

Does it have an "Already Registered" option to select?

Well, all the message says is "browser settings". It does not get any

more specific. So, if there is such an option, it is well hidden.

I see no such option. When I click on:
	Help->Registration...
the only information that I get is the above mentioned error box.

	Help->About
also has no indication, one way or another, about the package being
registered or not registered.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.
