You probably should have uninstalled before attempting to reinstall.

Took me some time to figure out where to install the dll to. Too bad they
have the path to soffice.bin hard coded...

Maybe you have the classes registered twice now?
OOo continues to work pretty well here (after I finally figured out how to
install correctly). The functionality is not really up to my expectations
yet, but hopefully there will be a version 1.1 in the near future ;o)

After installing OOoWPS100.wpi using Warpin 1.0.14, (I didn't know I had
an older version until later.) I restarted the WPS. I then double
clicked one of my documents in a folder, and the program complained about
not finding swriter.exe in my program directory. It was the director from
the WPS install, not from the installation directory for my OOO install.
The installation instructions did not make it clear that I needed to
install into the OOO directory. So I uninstalled using Warpin 1.0.14.
I then tried to install it again, but found that I could not alter the new
directory because for some reason, WarpIn would not allow me to edit that
directory for the 2nd installation. Since continuing the install would be
fruitless. It was then that I noticed that I was using the 1.0.14 release.
I then went and installed the 1.0.15 release before continuing.
Now when I start the warpin, it still will not let me change the
destination directory for the WPS install. I then opted to go look for the
information in WarpIn and see if I could change it in the DB. It turns
out that yes indeed, that directory information is in the Warpin DB. I
altered the INI file to use the new directory, and when I ran the install
again, it was able to install my OOoWPS100 package into the proper OOO
directory.
Then I ran into the following dialog when trying to start SWRITER from
either a program icon, or double clicking a document. The dialog says...
---------
Either another instance of OpenOffice.org is accessing your personal
settings or your personal settings are locked.
Simultaneous access can lead to inconsistences in your personal settings.
Before continuing, you should make sure user "closes OpenOffice.org on
host".
Do you really want to continue? (Y/N)
---------
This dialog always pops up. And if I select NO, the program ends
gracefully. And if I select YES, most of the time it will not start. My
WPS usually hangs, requiring me to reboot the system to get control again.
I've tried to uninstall and re-install the OOoWPS100 package several times
sometimes with just a WPS reset, other times with a reboot of the system,
but the problem remains whether the OOoWPS100 package is installed or not.
So while installing the package may have triggered my problem, the
problem does not go away if I uninstall the OOoWPS100 package.
I just tried the quickstart command. It gave me the same dialog. I then
clicked YES to continue. I can now click the SWRITER program ICON, and it
will start normally. At least for one instance.
I'm very sure that another instance of openoffice is not causing my
problem. I have checked my running processes and cannot find any extra OO
process running when this dialog occurs.
I will continue to play with the programs to see if I can figure out a
rhyme or reason on a workaround.
Anyone have any ideas what I might check to see if something is corrupted,
or setup wrong?
Anyone else experience this problem?
I use a Warp4FP17 system.
It would seem that my access to OOO is currently unreliable, and
problematic.
I would like to get it fully functional and reliable again.

Mark

It is later, and my problem seems to have ironed itself out a little bit.
As long as I'm willing to wait 2.5 minutes, the application will
eventually load, and the error dialog is now gone.
When I rebooted after my last message, the system was taking forever to
shutdown. I assumed that it was due to the quickstart feature hanging the
shutdown procedure. I use CAD to hurry up the shutdown.
After my reboot, I have the long 2 and a half minute start up time for
OpenOffice. This is about 2 or 3 times what it used to be.
I'll see if I can get quickstart to work for me without hanging my system
on shutdown.
Sorry to bother everybody.
Regards,
Mark
