I just downloaded the "Professional template package" from
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org .But the extension is *.oxt and
is said to work from release 2.0.4 of OO. And that is exactly what we got,
but I cant open it and can't see that this support exist. Somebody knows
anything about it?

I tried the directions at:

http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/resources/user/howto_install

'Extension Manager' doesn't exist under Tools, so I tried 'Package
Manager' and got system beeps and OO closed. I then clicked on the
'Open document...' icon and selected the
'Sun_ODF_Template_Pack-en-US.oxt' which it seemed to recognize as a
valid OXT file and opened a 'Filter Selection' window with templates
listed. Clicking on OK just seems to close everything however and I
can't find the templates. I finally tried opening that page in OO and
was presented once again with the 'Filter Selection' list. This time it
tells me that the (.oxt) file is corrupt, offers to repair it, and then
states that it is unrepairable. Users on other platforms are not having

The extension manager requires Java. OOo 2.0.4 does not have Java
support--if my memory is working correctly.

The first time that I downloaded the English templates extension, it was
corrupted, so I tried again and got one that was complete.

Our Package Manager doesn't work, but that shouldn't keep you from
installing the templates. You just have to do it the hard way. What you
download is an archive. Extract the files with paths, and you can open
the templates individually and save the ones that you like. Yes, it's a
nuisance, but you can get them if you really want them.
