Yes. See http://groups.google.com/group/opera.mail+news/msg/1fb64c61ad16fa00

Hmm. Mine seems to. I installed 9.5 over the prior version, where I had
that checked for both of my nntp servers.
In the accounts.ini file, both of the nntp accounts have
Download Bodies=1
Maybe that setting in the accounts.ini now has to be entered by
manually editing the file.

No. The .newsrc file is the only place information about individual newsgroups
is stored, and it's in a standardized format, that has one line per newsgroup,
with the name, status (subscribed has a colon after the name, unsuscribed has
an exclamation mark after the name), and if it is currently, or has ever been
subscribed, a list of the article numbers that have been fetched, in comma
seperated ranges of article numbers.
As the .newsrc file can be quite large, using the standard format, in theory,
allows the file to be used by multiple news reader programs. Opera would
have to stop using the standard format, or create another file with additional
information for subscribed newsgroups, to be able to store a per newsgroup
setting. I think the latter would be a good idea, as it could also be used
to specify things like retention periods, but that is a disscussion better
suited to opera.wishlist.

Thanks, but I mean message bodies.
In older versions were "Download when checking" option, but hadn't
found
it in 9.5.
