In previous versions of Opera, I was always able to hover over an  
anchor/link, and after a few seconds the associated URI would be  
displayed. That no longer happens with Opera 9.5b/9903.

I think since 9.0, this popup no longer appears if the status bar is  
enabled, whereas previous versions would display both. I prefer the old  
behaviour, or at least an option to enable it, because the status bar  
crops the URL or title text whereas those popups allowed the text to wrap  
so you could always read it in full. I still want the status bar displayed

You gave me the clue I needed. It was working with 9.26. Somehow, Opera  
9.5 got out of sync with itself. I had the status bar turned off, but it  
still didn't show the URI on hover. A bit of playing around turning the  
status bar on/off and removing/adding the status field to the bar, and  
I've now got the status bar off, and URIs are shown as they were in the
