Problem with copying formatted text in Opera

Problem with copying formatted text in Opera
Sat, 28 Apr 2007 12:50:24 -040
In IE, if I select text and paste it into another application, the character
formatting, paragraph formatting, and hyperlinks are all included in the
paste job .

In Opera, the result of copying formatted text and pasting it is unformatted
text. This is very strange behavior I've never seen in any application
before. Can anyone tell me how I can get text copied from Opera to behave
as in other application?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

But it's just bizarre--an application that displays Rich Text, but that
won't allow you to copy the Rich Text.

How can Opera claim to be a competitor to Internet Explorer if it lacks such
a basic feature?

Also, it seems Firefox also has this limitation. Or is there (sorry for
being OT) a setting in Firefox allowing copying of Rich Text?

Opera doesn't support copying of formatted text. There is a workaround
described here <http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=182633>
if you want to go that far to make it work.

Otherwise, you'll have to wait for Opera to implement this. It certainly
has been requested before.

Gosh, it would be nice if the instructions on how to do this were written in
English instead of technical shorthand which one needs to be a programming
expert to understand.

WHY?

Could someone please explain to me how Opera, a major browser with zillions
of features, does not have the most basic feature of allowing the copying of
formatted text, when the dinkiest little nothing application like WordPad
allows the copying of formatted text?

How could people use Opera as their regular browser if they can't copy
formatted text from it? For example, people frequently copy the text of
articles they see on the Web and send to to each other. Or they copy text
into Word to quote it. Obviously, since the original text is formatted,
there is a need for any copy of the text also to be formatted.

How could Opera even pretend to compete as a browser when it is so lacking?

It just doesn't make sense. I hope someone can explain.

Larry
