Opera 9.00 available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD
Thu, 22 Jun 2006 13:08:07 -040
We're proud to (belatedly) announce the release of Opera 9.00 for
Windows, Mac, Linux, Solaris, and FreeBSD. Opera 9.00 is a major leap
for the Opera desktop browser, a release more than a year in the
making. The release includes improvements to just about every corner
of Opera, from web standards to user interface to Opera Mail. We
recommend this update for all Opera users.

Windows users should note that there are two installers available: a
"classic" installer, which uses the same installation scheme as
previous releases, and an MSI installer. The MSI installer should be
used by those preferring Opera's user interface to be in a language
other than English.

Mac users should note that Opera 9.00 is a universal binary, allowing
it to run without Rosetta an Intel Macs.

I upgraded from 8.54 to 9 but found it would not load a page properly,
there was a box in black with a blue title bar and close button only, so
had to do a system restore. All other upgrades were fine since I purchased
Opera 7 in March '04.

Would be interested to hear of a solution.

I worded that badly. What I should have said that when I started Opera
with no pages then I just got a black screen with a title bar and close
button.

Now that I cannot say I noticed unfortunately. I am tempted to have
another go at installing 9 and will take more notice, but where is this
rollback uninstall feature - can't see it with 8.54?

When you had that window opened, was the icon in the taskbar that of Opera
or a white page one?
