Hi,
on my Opera 9.50 (build 1754) when I download a file
with suffix .tar.gz Opera suggests to store it
as .tar.tar
How can I change this?

I suppose you don't want to do it manually. Just type the name of file that
you
downloaded. You know you can still untar the tarball no matter what

In Tools/Preferences/Advanced/Downloads, uncheck the box hide file types opened
by opera.
Edit the entry for application/x-gzip, and add tar.gz to the list of
extensions.
