Build 1786 killed by www.hostdump.com
Mon, 04 Feb 2008 11:58:04 +010
Hi,

the recent Opera build 1786 can be reproducibly killed by
trying to access
www.hostdump.com

If only Opera were more robust - even if the contents of this web page
were completely broken, Opera may rant as much as it likes but it should
never die.

Thanks for Opera,
Helmut.

Maybe this is "Plugins crash Opera on UNIX" noted in the 'known
issues'? I
gather this makes this build only suitable for Linux users who disable
plugins. But these weekly test snapshots can not be expected to be robust
all the time.

It doesn't crash on me. I've disabled plugins altogether as soon as I
installed this build.

Just reporting and confirming the above. I just installed the latest
snapshot (1800). And, it started crashing. I turned off plugins (under
Preferences/Advanced/Content) as suggested, and the crashes stopped.

One other issue that I've found -- If (while viewing a Web page) I type a
slash and a search string, only the first character of the search string is
recognized. In effect, "/abc" searches for "a", not
"abc". But the Find
dialog (Ctrl-F or Edit/Find...) works fine.

I'm using (from Help/About Opera):

Version 9.50 Beta 2
Build 1800
Platform Linux
System x86_64, 2.6.22-14-generic
Qt library 3.3.7

Why don't you just use Flash Blocker
